Kay Loya has more than five years of banking experience, the last three of which were with a local community bank. She started as a teller, then worked way up to new accounts representative. As a teller, she was entrusted with the responsibility of ATM custodian and was recognized as the summer 2009 Top Performer of the Greenbrier branch for her outstanding customer service. After a year and a half, she was promoted to Vault Teller at the Main Office; two months later, she was promoted to Head Teller and moved back to the Greenbrier branch. After serving as Head Teller for one year, she was again promoted to New Accounts representative and moved back to the Main Office, where she worked the remainder of her time. In September 2011, she decided to make the switch to the investment world to expand her knowledge of finance.

Kay attended Austin Peay State University, in Clarksville, TN, for 2 1/2 years right after high school, but left to get married and start a family. She is currently attending Strayer University in Virginia Beach to complete her bachelor’s degree in Accounting.

Kay is originally from Clarksville, TN, where she met Nick, her husband of 18 years. They married about 4 years after he began his career as a Navy Seabee. This career took them to Norfolk, VA; Keflavik, Iceland; Gulfport, MS; Pearl Harbor, HI; and back to Virginia Beach, VA, where they currently reside with their two teenage children. Kay is very active with her children’s activities and volunteers regularly to chaperone band trips and other functions. She is also actively involved with Kempsville Baptist Church, participating in the women’s ministry, serving as an AWANA leader, and volunteering occasionally in the Sunday morning preschool ministry.

Kay is very much looking forward to serving you with Virginia Asset Group. She can be reached at 757-747-2556 or kloya@virginiaassetgroup.com.

Chris Jennings received his Bachelors of Science degree in 1996 from Virginia Tech and began working as a civilian contractor with the U.S. Navy as a budget and finance analyst in the LANTFLT long range planning office. While this work was rewarding, it was very macro in nature and his desire to help people on a more personal level prompted a transition into the world of personal finance in 2001.

Unlike a lot of advisors in the industry that have stock broker or insurance agent backgrounds, Chris came into the industry with planning as his focus. Retirement income planning, wealth transfer, and divorce settlement have become his specialty over the years. Chris has helped guide countless Retiree’s, Widows and Widowers, and Divorcees through some of the happiest and toughest times in their lives.

Chris believes that while investments and insurance have their role, they are meaningless without a sound, conservative, financial strategy. Along with helping to develop the strategy with the client, he also matches up and manages the appropriate investment objective, product, or account type with the strategy. He likes to say he matches up the “What” with the “Why.” Implementing a strategy though is only the beginning, and he and his clients regularly hold strategy review appointments to ensure that they continue to meet their financial goals as their lives change.

Professionally, Chris holds his Life & Health Insurance licenses in multiple states. He also holds his Series 7 and Series 66 Securities registrations in multiple states.

Chris is very active as a volunteer in the Hampton Roads community. As a youth, he earned his Arrow of Light from Pack 6 and his Eagle Scout from Troop 6 in Chesapeake. As an adult, he has volunteered his time as a Den Leader, Pack Treasurer, and Pack Committee Chairman for Pack 6 and is currently the Three Rivers District Finance Committee Chairman. He also returns to Troop 6 to speak about how important it is to fulfill the scout law as an Eagle Scout in today’s world. He looks forward to his son, Will, becoming an Eagle Scout.

As a very proud Hokie, Chris is very active promoting the schools motto of Ut Prosim or “That I May Serve.” He does this by serving as the President of the Tidewater Chapter of the Virginia Tech Alumni Association. Under Chris’s leadership, the Chapter has been awarded the “Outstanding Chapter Award” for the last ten years from the National Alumni Association. He was recognized nationally and awarded the “Chapter Officer of the Year” award from the National Alumni Association in 2005 for his service to the over 7,000 Virginia Tech Alumni living in the Tidewater Chapter area. He also been asked to lead break out sessions dealing in the areas of Chapter Leadership and Organization, Web site Development, and Chapter Promotions at the National Alumni Chapter Officers Forum held each year in Blacksburg.

Chris is a life long resident of Chesapeake. He is very proud to serve his clients and his community but he is most proud to be the father of Emmalina and William Jennings.
